About us.
The Marlow, Maidenhead & District Model Railway Club was formed in 1968 and provides a focal point for a friendly and active group of modellers from as far afield as Wokingham, Earley, Twyford, Reading and High Wycombe, as well as the more local areas in and around Maidenhead and Marlow. With many members coming some distance, lifts are often available.
We meet weekly in Maidenhead, where the club has a small library of books, workshop, club store and test tracks in all the main gauges up to and including O and G, as well as 4 current layout projects:-
'Shirebeck-in-Emswell' in EM gauge.
'Cromwell Road Bridge' our end to end O gauge layout, finer details being added, available for exhibitions.
'Westhampton' a new N gauge layout which is currently under construction.
'Millward Terminal' another new layout, American HO, work in progress.
'Southwick' our OO gauge continuous run layout has been retired after many successful exhibitions and is now the process of being dismantled and recycled.
Our members' modelling interests cover most scales and eras, from early steam to modern diesels, N gauge to G gauge, (via the popular 4mm scales - OO/EM/P4) and not forgetting HO interests in European and North American as well as British railways! There's always someone to give guidance or lend a helping hand.
During the course of the year, we have a limited program of events to entertain and inform including the annual modelling and photographic competition. The competition has a number of categories and all members are encouraged to enter regardless of perceived abilities.
Our club is always looking to recruit new members, so if you would like to get involved with one of our projects you would be made most welcome. In the first instance please contact us via the website and one of the committee will invite you to one of our club nights as a guest.
Membership is payable annually with the membership year starting at the AGM. Members joining part way through a year pay pro-rata for the remaining period.
