Based loosely on the LMR Croxley Green Depot our layout attempts to capture some of the key elements of the area just south west of Watford, in the 1960 – 1980 period. Both the owners of this layout have an interest in the DC North London Lines, as well as links with DEMU TVAG’s Ripper Street Layout, therefore this project seemed a natural progression and allowed us both to indulge ourselves in some nostalgia.

The Layout consists of 3 key elements:

Wiggenhall Road Shed - is the road LMR Croxley Green Depot was located on and is a very much cut down version of the Croxley Green Shed, however the stock is principally as the per the BR shed Class 501’s EMUs, a 4-Car 1938 Tube train, a former LMS 3-car EMU and some other EMU’s with links to this area. The depot is accessed by trains reversing in from the headshunt on the truncated former Rickmansworth London Road branch in a similar way to the BR Croxley Green Depot.

Croxley West Station - is a based on a cross between Croxley Green Station and West and is served by an infrequent service provided EMU’s, however DMU’s regular feature as here is shortage of 501’s some of which are currently being “worked on” in the BREL Maidenhead Workshops; however unlike the LMR Croxley Green service we do not runreplacement taxis. There is also a single freight siding at Croxley West which does see a variety of traffic.

A Small Oil Terminal - which serves the local Power Station and trip workings to this depot are remarkably frequent and can provide the occasional surprise working!

Trackwork is all Peco code 75, 16.5mm gauge. Structures are made from parts of various kits with additional scratch building where required. Control can be either DC or DCC, points are electrically switched. Rolling stock is a mix of RTR, modified RTR and kit built.
